Fins & Tubes Cleaning

Condensers are the important equipment in most the manufacturing, HVAC & process industries such as Power & Steel Plant, Petrochemicals & refinery, Papers, HVAC and many other industries. An inefficient condenser can be the reason for huge losses in terms of high energy consumptions, production losses etc. The major reason for the inefficient condenser is the loss of heat exchanging capacity due to water-born deposits. It is necessary that condensers are cleaned periodically and must not wait for heavy fouling of tubes. There are various cleaning method is adopted to ensure that condenser tubes are maintained utmost clean all the times and a well-thought plan are in place for preventive maintenance. Following are the technology used for cleaning the tubes and the technology is selected based on time available for cleaning and intensity of deposits. Many times one or more technology is combined for effective cleaning.

1. Bullet/Projectile cleaning:-Mainly used for preventive maintenance and in case of a short shutdown period. Bullet cleaning is less time consuming, however, may not be effective for heavy and very hard deposits.

2. Water Jetting:-A traditional method of cleaning the condenser tubes. Though it is effective, sometimes it takes more time and requires highly skilled labour and safety always a concern.

3. Chemical Cleaning:- Highly effective for hard water deposits & takes less time for cleaning. However, application method and selection of the right chemical plays a key role.

4. Mechanical brushing:-Mechanical brushing is another effective cleaning method adopted in industries. However, the proper size of brush and type of brush is important for the effectiveness of the cleaning. It takes more time for cleaning the complete system.
